Don Bosco School, Sashipur, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and commitment. The celebration was centred on the global theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The programme began with the morning assembly conducted by the EVS students of Classes IX and X under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Royal Baraily. The students presented a meaningful skit highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving Mother Earth. Through their performance, they reminded everyone of their responsibility to care for nature and use natural resources wisely. Following the skit, all the students and staff members took a pledge to protect the environment through their daily actions and to work towards creating a greener and healthier world. Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Fr. Nicodim Aind, spoke about the significance of the theme of Environment Day 2026. He explained the importance of learning from nature and working together to address climate change and build a sustainable future. In his inspiring message, he said: “Nature is our greatest teacher and protector. By caring for trees, water, animals, and the environment, we help fight climate change and ensure a better future for ourselves and future generations. Let us be inspired by nature and work together to protect our common home.” After the assembly, the senior students and teachers planted saplings in the school campus to mark the occasion and to contribute towards a greener environment. In the afternoon, the entire school actively participated in various activities organised to create awareness about environmental conservation. Students of Classes VII to X took part in an essay-writing competition on the topics “The Importance of Trees in Our Lives” and “Climate Change and Its Effects.” Meanwhile, students of Classes IV to VI showcased their creativity through poster-making competitions based on the themes “Save Trees, Save Earth” and “Go Green, Keep It Clean.” The wholehearted participation of the students made the celebration meaningful and memorable. The programme concluded with a prayer to God and the singing of the school anthem, bringing the day’s activities to a joyful and peaceful close. The campus of Don Bosco School Sashipur came alive with enthusiasm, creativity, and the spirit of healthy competition during the Lt. Fr. Elias Kerketta SDB Memorial Cup – Inter-Class Choral Recitation Competition 2026, held on 9th May 2026. The programme was organized in loving memory of Lt. Fr. Elias Kerketta SDB, the former Principal of the school,(1994-1997) whose dedication and contribution towards education and the growth of the institution continue to inspire the Don Bosco family. The programme began with the welcome address delivered by the Principal, Fr. Nicodim Aind, who warmly welcomed the gathering and encouraged the students to participate wholeheartedly in the spirit of unity and excellence. He also extended a special welcome to Fr. Albinus Dhanwar, Bro. Ajit MOP, and the respected teachers who had graciously come as judges for the competition. A solemn and heartfelt tribute was then paid to Lt. Fr. Elias Kerketta SDB. Senior Teacher Mrs. Constantina Hasda, who had once been appointed by Fr. Elias himself, led the school community in remembering and honouring the life and legacy of the great educationist. The tribute created an atmosphere of gratitude and reverence as students and teachers reflected upon his invaluable contribution to the institution. The Inter-Class Choral Recitation Competition officially commenced with an energetic performance by Class III A, while the programme concluded with the presentation by Class X. Empowering Educators for a New Era: Teachers’ Orientation at Don Bosco School, Sashipur
An enriching and insightful orientation session for the teachers of Don Bosco School, Sashipur was conducted on 25th April 2026 in the school auditorium. The session was animated by Rev. Br. (Dr.) Albert Longley Dkhar, the former Principal of St. Anthony’s College Shillong. The programme commenced with a prayer led by Fr. Nicodim Aind, the Principal of the school. Following the prayer, Fr. Principal extended a warm welcome to Br. Albert Longley and all the participants, setting a positive tone for the day. In his first session, Br. Albert addressed the topic “Professional Preparation of the Teacher: Teacher as Facilitators (NEP 2020)”. He elaborated on the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, highlighting the evolving role of teachers as facilitators of learning, mentors, guides, and builders of critical thinking among students. He also provided practical insights into lesson planning in alignment with NEP 2020 and emphasized the effective use of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs). Reflecting on the Salesian ethos, he reminded the teachers that every child entering the classroom carries someone’s hope and future, and therefore must be treated with utmost care and responsibility. The second session focused on “Child Safety and Professional Boundaries: A Sacred Trust.” Br. Albert dealt extensively with the importance of maintaining professional ethics and ensuring the safety of every child. He presented five case studies, which were discussed in groups. The discussions and subsequent sharing were deeply enriching, especially in understanding real-life situations in the light of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). In the third session, Br. Albert highlighted the importance of teamwork in building a strong and vibrant school community. He emphasized that collaboration among teachers is essential for institutional growth and student success. During the evaluation segment, the teachers expressed their appreciation and reflections. Mr. Bijay Thakur conveyed his gratitude to Br. Albert for sharing his vast experience as a teacher and Principal across various Don Bosco institutions in the North East. Miss Evanjuli Goyari expressed her satisfaction at being part of such a meaningful orientation, noting that it helped her understand the importance of preparation and teamwork. Don Bosco School, Sashipur marked the beginning of its new scholastic year 2026–27 on11th April 2026 with a solemn and inspiring Investiture Ceremony, centred around the theme “Strive for Excellence, Lead with Values.” The occasion was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Bivan Mukim, the Salesian Vice Provincial of Guwahati. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by the Principal, Fr. Nicodim Aind, who set the tone for the day by emphasizing the importance of leadership rooted in values. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge and wisdom.
