World Environment Day Celebration at Don Bosco School, Sashipur

Don Bosco School, Sashipur, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and commitment. The celebration was centred on the global theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

The programme began with the morning assembly conducted by the EVS students of Classes IX and X under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Royal Baraily. The students presented a meaningful skit highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving Mother Earth. Through their performance, they reminded everyone of their responsibility to care for nature and use natural resources wisely.

Following the skit, all the students and staff members took a pledge to protect the environment through their daily actions and to work towards creating a greener and healthier world.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Fr. Nicodim Aind, spoke about the significance of the theme of Environment Day 2026. He explained the importance of learning from nature and working together to address climate change and build a sustainable future. In his inspiring message, he said:

“Nature is our greatest teacher and protector. By caring for trees, water, animals, and the environment, we help fight climate change and ensure a better future for ourselves and future generations. Let us be inspired by nature and work together to protect our common home.”

After the assembly, the senior students and teachers planted saplings in the school campus to mark the occasion and to contribute towards a greener environment.

In the afternoon, the entire school actively participated in various activities organised to create awareness about environmental conservation. Students of Classes VII to X took part in an essay-writing competition on the topics “The Importance of Trees in Our Lives” and “Climate Change and Its Effects.” Meanwhile, students of Classes IV to VI showcased their creativity through poster-making competitions based on the themes “Save Trees, Save Earth” and “Go Green, Keep It Clean.”

The wholehearted participation of the students made the celebration meaningful and memorable. The programme concluded with a prayer to God and the singing of the school anthem, bringing the day’s activities to a joyful and peaceful close.

The school is grateful to Mr. Royal Baraily and his team for organising the programme so effectively. Special thanks are also due to the Vice Principal, Fr. Jyotish Beck for coordinating the various activities and ensuring the success of the celebration.

The day ended with students returning home with a deeper understanding of their responsibility towards the environment and with a renewed commitment to protect and care for our common home.
